Little Tennis features graduated equipment

The right equipment is vital to the success of any sports program, especially one for young children. Equipment progressions should correspond with the size, strength and abilities of children as they grow and develop skills.

In Little Tennis, graduated equipment makes it possible for young children to have almost instant success and to start playing games that mimic full-court tennis early in their development. Shorter nets, softer balls and smaller racquets that are ideally balanced and weighted make the game easy and fun for children to play.

USPTA has found the HEAD-Starts tennis products it endorses to be the best. The graduated equipment features smaller-sized racquets and nets, as well as an assortment of carefully designed teaching aids for virtually every motor and racquet skill application. Multiple stations can be assembled on a tennis court, with individual stations geared to developing specific skills.

However, we recognize that many of our members use other pieces of equipment, some of which may have been self-styled or purchased at toy stores. We appreciate that ingenuity and encourage members to share their equipment ideas with us. If you would like to purchase any of the equipment mentioned in this section simply click the manufacturer's menu button at the left of the page. Contact numbers for the manufacturers are provided in the text.
